Got our 2nd call today, and the report is: (drumroll): he's doing great!!!

He told us all about his past week and described how they have met so many kind and friendly people along their trip- people cooking them dinner, doing their laundry, baking them cupcakes, or just wanting to know all about their adventure and offering encouragement. They even got an impromptu police escort through a small town in Alabama (lights and all)! There have been a few to-be-expected obstacles: winds, flat tires, and a summer cold (he's better now), but they've tackled it like champs and they have a support vehicle that can help when bike issues occur.

It sounds like the group of teens and the 2 leaders have really gelled and support each other well. They know they have a challenging 4 days ahead averaging 90+ miles/day through Texas, with heat and some potentially strong winds, but Nico's feeling ready for it, with a positive outlook. We're grateful that he's having fun and with no sport injuries or major issues (fingers crossed).

Thanks to everyone checking in on his journey and rooting for him. He really appreciates it!
